Study Guide

Study Guide

As we discussed in class Friday, here is information on the midterm in class exam, this Friday.

We discussed these topics in class and have had readings on them:
  • Personal Identity
  • Fatalism
  • Time
  • Free Will
Your midterm will ask you to demonstrate that you understand these issues -- and what motivates the issues -- and the relevant positions and arguments for and against the various positions (typically, at least one argument). And you will be asked to state a tentative position or view of your own on the topics. You will be asked to write your responses in manner that someone not in this class would understand (a) what the the issues, topics or problems are, (b) what the responses to the issues, topics or problems are, i.e., what the main positions are, (c) some arguments for and/or against various positions and (d) your tentative estimate of which views are correct and why.
